Job Description

Job Summary

Performs complex administrative support work. Work involves providing administrative support

including disseminating information; assisting with maintaining filing systems; preparing and editing

reports and documents; and providing guidance to others. Works under general supervision with

moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Functions

  • Participates in the planning and execution of an agency program; coordinates work with

departments of the agency; assists in the development of administrative and technical

assistance policies and procedures; and assists in reviewing and seeking solutions to problems.

  • Prepares and disseminates information concerning the Warrants Section activities and

procedures; prepares, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, studies, forms, and

documents; and responds to inquiries regarding rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Compiles and enters data, makes calculations, and prepares reports; and maintains filing,

record keeping, and records management systems to include automated information systems.

  • Performs criminal information searches and retrieval using Texas Department of Public Safety

criminal history system access.

  • Provides training and technical assistance to support staff.
  • Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education, Experience, and Training
  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
  • Two years full-time, wage-earning customer service, clerical, secretarial, administrative

support, or technical program support experience. Fifteen semester hours from a college or

university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education

Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) may be

substituted for each six months of experience.

  • Computer operations experience preferred.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a certificate of course completion for the Texas Law

Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) policy and procedures training from the

Texas Department of Public Safety within six months of employment date.

Must meet and maintain TLETS access eligibility for continued employment in position.

environment.

  • Skill to train others.
  • Skill to type 45 words per minute (with no more than 10 errors) preferred.

  • Conditions include working inside, working around machines with moving parts and moving

objects, radiant and electrical energy, constant noise, working closely with others, working

alone, working protracted or irregular hours, and traveling by car, van, bus, and airplane.

  • Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing only the essential functions include

computer and related equipment, copier, fax machine, bar code scanner, telephone, dolly, and

automobile.
