Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons Department of Psychiatry Psychologist/ Social Worker Job Opening at Columbia University Irving Medical Center: Specialist in Adolescent Dialectical Behavior Therapy Position Titles: Associate in Clinical/Instructor/ Assistant Professor level positions in the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) Job : There are immediate openings for licensed clinical social workers or psychologists at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center Faculty Practice Organization office in NYC within our Adolescent DBT teams. The Department of Psychiatry is seeking social workers and/or psychologists assigned to work in the Faculty Practice Organization at CUIMC. These are full-time, clinical positions that will involve seeing comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) adolescent and young adult outpatients, as well as clinical participation in our Intensive Adolescent and Family DBT program (IAF). IAF is an evening DBT intensive outpatient program for teens who present with significant emotion dysregulation and high-risk behaviors. Primary responsibilities involve conducting DBT skills groups, diagnostic/ intake evaluation, and individual treatment planning and progress monitoring with patients while utilizing DBT, as well as other empirically supported treatments. Applicants must have demonstrated interest, experience and training in utilizing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with children and adolescents. Strong preference will be given to individuals who have completed an intensive DBT training and who have previous experience running multi-family skills groups. Candidates with additional experience in evidence-supported treatment delivery for depression and anxiety and experience, familiarity and comfort working with high-risk patients are desired. Applicants should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well across disciplines and function effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The CUIMC FPO sees a mix of private pay and managed care patients, and has a particular focus on serving the Columbia medical center community, among others. We prioritize evidence-based interventions and have an array of specialized programs to best serve our patients. All positions currently allow for hybrid work, with on-site time spent in our Columbus Circle offices in midtown Manhattan. Our faculty serve as part of multi-disciplinary teams with ample opportunities to learn from and consult with colleagues. There are also professional development funds available to faculty to support licensure renewals, as well as obtaining additional training, conference attendance, professional organization members, among other opportunities. Candidate(s) will have opportunities to attend case conferences, peer supervision and Grand Rounds at CUMC. Opportunities may exist for clinical supervision and teaching. Minimum Educational Requirements: PsyD or PhD in Clinical Psychology or Licensed Master Social Worker NYS license required. Candidates will be required to obtain a New Jersey License. For psychologists: Instructor level requires graduation from an APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology, and completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship program. Assistant Professor level requires 2-3 years clinical experience in a hospital or private practice setting. Child internship or postdoctoral fellowship is preferred.
