Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals struggling with mental health and/or substance abuse issues.
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Program Director and/or Center Coordinator, the BHT provides comprehensive support and coordination of care throughout the addiction recovery process. BHT’s Duties may consist of group therapy facilitation, case management, outdoor activities, peer support or intake. 
BHT duties:
  1. Facilitate group therapy sessions in the classroom or in the field.
  2. Administering Drug Screens (UA’s, swab, and breathalyzer).
  3. Searching clients’ dorms, property, and individual clients
  4. All other duties as assigned to include Case Management, Intake, Scribe, and Outdoor Recreation
  5. Schedule and/or lead service projects
  6. Assist with planning, scheduling, and attending outdoor and overnight activities
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient progress
  8. Ensure group therapy sessions are aligned with client treatment plans.
  9. Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all clients.
  10. Maintain proper documentation of client progress including overall progress, body language, participation, and engagement
  11. Participate in program development and evaluation.
  12. Coordinate wellness checks, doctor appointments, and other necessary services to ensure continuity of care for clients.
  13. Participate in admissions processes, including intake assessments and orientation, ensuring clients feel supported from the start.
  14. Assist clients through the discharge process, providing resources and support to facilitate a smooth transition to independent living.
  15. Document critical steps and progress within the recovery program, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  16. Address the day-to-day needs of clients, offering support and ensuring their well-being throughout their recovery journey.
  17. Be sensitive, respectful, and personable when interacting with clients, building a compassionate and supportive environment.
  18. Empower clients by encouraging self-reliance and helping them develop life skills to achieve self-sufficiency.
  19. Collaborate with the treatment team to regularly assess clients' progress, adjust individualized plans, and provide ongoing support.
Qualifications:
  • Qualified Behavioral Health Technician (meets one of the following):
    • Master's degree or bachelor's degree in a field related to behavioral health;
    • Has a bachelor's degree and at least one year of full time behavioral health work experience;
    • Has as associate's degree and at least two years of full time behavioral health work experience;
    • Has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and a combination of education in a field related to behavioral health and full time behavioral health work experience totaling at least two years;
    • Is licensed a practical nurse, according to A.R.S Title 32, Chapter 15, with at least three years of full time behavioral health work experience;
    • Or has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma at least four years of full time behavioral health work experience.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and critical thinking skills to prioritize client needs.
  • Current Driver’s License required
  • CPR certification required (or become certified within 30 days of hire)
  • Takes responsibility for professional growth and seeks opportunities to improve skills.
  • Communicates effectively through verbal, non-verbal, and written means.
  • Adapts to changing work demands and environments with flexibility.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking in monitoring and responding to client needs.
  • Must be physically able to participate in activities such as hikes or other physical tasks.
