We are a well-established ophthalmology practice in the Clearwater/Tampa Bay area with over 70 years of combined patient care expertise, and we're seeking a talented individual like you to join our dynamic team!
About the Role:
As a Medical Biller/Coder, you'll play a vital role in our revenue cycle management process, ensuring accurate and timely billing and coding for our valued patients. This is a full-time, on-site position (not remote) with a fantastic Monday-Friday, day shift schedule - no weekends or holidays required!
What You'll Do:
Patient Interaction: Review charges at checkout, collect patient balances, and schedule future appointments.
Charge Entry & Payment Posting: Enter charges for over-the-counter supplies and post insurance and patient payments in our practice management system.
Financial Reconciliation: Perform end-of-day balancing to ensure accuracy in financial records.
Communication & Support: Answer billing and coding questions from patients, staff, and insurance companies.
Chart Preparation: Prepare patient charts for upcoming appointments.
Insurance Verification & Authorizations: Verify patient insurance benefits and request/obtain PCP referrals and testing authorizations as needed.
Medical Records Management: Send out medical records as requested and upload patient information to electronic charts.
Compliance & Confidentiality: Maintain the strictest patient confidentiality, adhering to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
High School Diploma.
2-3 years of billing experience, preferably in ophthalmology.
CPC or CPB certification required.
Proficiency with medical insurance procedures and patient management systems (experience with AdvancedMD is a plus!).
Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party payer practices.
Comfortable using email, Microsoft Office, and online applications.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system.
