Job Summary:

About the Position:
This position is a part of our Transportation department within the Facilities Planning and Management Division at UW-Madison. The Parking Enforcement Officer is responsible for patrolling designated parking areas, enforcing University of Wisconsin parking policies by issuing citations or warnings to vehicles violating parking rules, including expired Parkmobile stalls, illegal parking spots, overstaying time limits and coordinate towing vehicles when necessary. Because this position will be interacting with the public regularly, good communication and customer service skills are important. Occasionally you will deal with disputes or confrontations out in the field. Having the ability to work through confrontation and good attention to detail by having the ability to observe and identify parking violations based on regulations is a plus. The expected schedule is onsite Saturday through Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.

UW Transportation Services is a department within Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M) on the UW-Madison campus. We serve a variety of customers with a diverse set of parking and transportation needs. Transportation Services is responsible for the coordination and administration of all transportation-related services for the UW campus community. Primary functions include the sale/management of parking permits, special event coordination, maintenance and enforcement, construction coordination, lot and booth operations, citation payments and appeals, information technology, financial, transportation planning, and development of multimodal options.

The Division of Facilities Planning& Management (FP&M) is a full-spectrum service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of UW-Madison in the university's education, research, and outreach activities. We are responsible for everything from the building projects that change the face of campus to the flowers
that beautify the grounds.

Responsibilities:

Monitors parking areas, issuing citations for parking violations. Collects data on campus parking usage and reports maintenance and safety concerns found on campus.
  • 25% Investigates parking eligibility, and compliance with policy
  • 25% Enforces parking violations across property
  • 20% Accurately records vehicle description, location, and parking violation issue parking citations
  • 20% Enters parking usage data for multiple stall types in campus parking facilities
  • 5% Provides directions and education about parking with customers
  • 5% Maintains mechanical functions of parking meters and gate equipment

Depending on Qualifications
The minimum hourly rate for this position is $21.00, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive night differential of $2.50 per hour when you work between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
