Job Description

Systems Intelligence is excited to uphold the Army Software Factory’s mission of enabling Soldiers to become software professionals. We are looking for a Product User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) Designer to pair 1:1 alongside novice Soldiers coaching in those competencies such that the Soldiers learn by doing. The objective is for the Product UI/UX Designer coaches to impart progressive expertise such that Soldiers become capable of taking full ownership of their projects, and ultimately train others.

Travel:

CONUS travel in performance of the contract will be determined at the time of need.

Shift:

Core business hours of 8:45 A.M through 5:15 P.M central time, Monday through Friday, with eight working (non-lunch) hours per day

Prescribed period during which lunch may be taken: 11:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M.

Responsibilities

The Product UI/UX Designer is responsible for fusing user needs with technical requirements in a way that optimizes user adoption. This includes the User Interface, functionality, and “look and feel” of the application. This role’s duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure application teams are building products that meet user needs.
  • Act as the main conduit to the user.
  • Cover a wide variety of skills to be successful including user research, experience and interaction design, as well as visual design.
  • Practice User Centered Design (UCD), to act as an intelligent filter for user feedback and ensure that their teams tackle the highest user priorities.
  • As a part of a balanced team with Product Managers and Engineers, work collaboratively with their teammates to determine design priorities, refine a backlog and roadmap, and validate the technical complexity of their designs.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience as Product Designer.
  • Ability to coach and train junior Product Designers in the following: software planning, requirements, risk management, design, development, architecture, modeling, estimation, configuration management, quality, security, and tests using software development methodologies, architectural structures, viewpoints, styles, design decisions, and frameworks across all lifecycle phases.
  • Fluent in test driven development, lean methodology, and DevSecOps.
  • Knowledge of Figma and Figjam or comparable tooling.
  • Skill in managing user relationships, including determining user needs/requirements, managing user expectations, and demonstrating commitment to delivering quality results.
  • Ability to create prototypes, wireframes, and storyboards based on customer requirements.
  • Skill in using industry-standard design and prototyping tools.
  • Ability to research, inform, and evaluate available technologies and standards to meet customer requirements.
  • Knowledge of Federal 508 design compliance.
  • Ability to obtain interim Secret clearance prior to start date and achieve/maintain Secret clearance upon final adjudication.
