RESEARCH SAFETY AND SECURITY FACILITATOR

To provide support to Research Safety and Security Office programs, committees and investigators in the management of regulatory oversight, review and approval for their research endeavors. To provide support in the areas of system administration, training, electronic research registration, tracking, approval process, and reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Receives, registers and pre-reviews new, amended, and continuing submissions for compliance with federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines as well as with UAB institutional policies and procedures. Facilitates reviews by committee members and staff and serves as a liaison between investigators and the requisite committee. May serve as a member of multiple committees

• Coordinates and facilitates various meeting logistics. Plans calendars. Communicates with meeting attendees and guests. Compiles and maintains necessary components and documentation as required. Composes meeting minutes. Records, manages, and distributes approvals

• Engages appropriate team members and management to develop and provide initial training, onboarding, and continuing education for committee members, stakeholders, and investigators, as needed

• Works with management toward quality improvement. Ensures timely review of submitted documents requiring approval. Identifies areas for improvement in workflows and reporting and communicates recommendations to management

• Serves as a resource to address questions from researchers, staff, and leadership

• Assists in managing various systems and processes required for performing duties and takes a leadership role in guiding change implementation. Reviews active systems, identifying areas for system improvement, and updating systems accordingly (IMS, EHSA, IRAP, SharePoint, travel, CMS, and REDCap)

• Stays abreast of relevant regulations and standard operating procedures and assists management in ensuring compliance with and periodic review of SOPs

• Performs other duties as assigned

Salary Range : $52,555-$85,400

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in health sciences, Education, Nursing, Information Systems/ Business, or a related field and five (5) years of related work experience.
