Job Description

Job Title: RN Endoscopy

Location: Houston, TX 

Schedule: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hrs/week)

Duration: 13 week contract (Extendable)

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and assess patients before endoscopic procedures (e.g., colonoscopy, EGD, bronchoscopy).
• Administer conscious sedation and monitor patient response.
• Assist physicians during procedures, handling scopes, instruments, and biopsy samples.
• Monitor vital signs and patient status throughout procedures and recovery.
• Provide post-procedure care and education, ensuring patient safety and understanding.
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control and sterilization procedures.
• Ensure proper documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).
• Follow hospital policies, regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA), and best practices.
• Work closely with gastroenterologists, anaesthesiologists, and perioperative teams.
• Provide clear patient instructions for pre-procedure preparation and post-procedure recovery.
• Act as a patient advocate, ensuring comfort and informed consent.
• Utilize specialized endoscopy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Recognize and respond to complications, sedation reactions, or emergency situations.
• Assist in pre-admit assessments for endoscopic procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 2–40 years in Endoscopy, GI, Perioperative, or Critical Care Nursing.
• Licenses/Certifications:
• Active RN License (Texas or Compact State)
• BLS & ACLS (American Heart Association)
