Position Summary

Donâ™t miss this opportunity to join our team at Washington University Department of Pediatrics! This Staff Nurse II position supports our outpatient Pediatric Allergy and Pulmonary specialty clinics and pediatric pulmonary function lab. This position provides specialized patient care and education for patients receiving treatments, examinations, etc., in our medical office according to established procedures. This is a patient-facing, weekday, daytime position.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family (biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental); collects and analyzes data from the medical record to coordinate patient care.
• Directs and/or provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures including, but not limited to, biologic injections, skin testing, nebulizer treatments, and pulmonary function testing, and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.
• Provides appropriate counsel and education to patients/family regarding disease process and symptom management.
• Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.
• Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Demonstrates cost-effective work habits by setting priorities and properly managing supplies and equipment.
• Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
• Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcome.
• Other duties as outlined in specialty-specific job responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Completion of National Specialty Certification relevant to the area where working, if applicable.
• Current Missouri RN licensure in accordance with Compact Act.
• Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
• Advanced clinical skills (e.g., PALS, ACLS, IV Certification, Bone Marrow Biopsy).

Salary Range

$60,800.00 - $105,700.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
