As a Mental Health Therapist, you will play a crucial role in helping students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. You will provide individual and group counseling, work closely with educators, parents, and other professionals, and create a supportive learning environment that fosters strong connections between home and school. This role will involve working with students across the state of California, both virtually and in person.
Key Responsibilities:
Individual & Group Counseling: Provide individual and group counseling sessions to help students overcome interpersonal or family challenges that affect their school performance. You will also offer crisis intervention and consultation as needed.
Student & Family Interviews: Conduct interviews with students, families, and school staff to gather the necessary information to assess students' social, emotional, and behavioral adjustment to school and the community.
Family Engagement: Maintain regular contact with students' parents or guardians, providing updates on student progress, challenges, and any home life changes that may impact academic performance.
IEP Collaboration: Provide input on Occupational Therapy services and attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as required, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures.
Team Participation: Actively engage in IEP and other team meetings to address student and parent concerns, collaborating with various professionals to develop tailored solutions.
Collaboration with Professionals: Work with teachers, parents/guardians, district personnel, and other service providers to address learning and behavioral challenges, maintaining positive public relations and a professional company image.
Student Progress Assessment: Regularly assess student progress through classroom data collection and provide training and guidance to staff on how to address individual student needs effectively.
Requirements:
Educational Qualifications: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling with a School Social Work Specialist credential, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field meeting the requirements for the appropriate license or credential.
Accepted Licenses & Credentials:
Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Pupil Personal Services Credential (PPS), including LCSW, ASCW, AMFT
Technical Skills: Familiarity with Google Suite, Zoom, and IEP platforms such as SEIS is preferred.
Working Conditions:
Hybrid Setting: This position involves both in-person and remote work.
Travel: Occasional travel to various locations may be required.
Hours: Must be available to serve students for 15-25 hours per week during business hours.
