Job Description – Senior Commercial Roofing Estimator
Position Overview:
The Senior Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for managing the estimation process for large commercial roofing and decking projects. This role plays a crucial part in developing competitive bids, securing new business opportunities, and supporting the growth of the company’s commercial division. The Senior Estimator will also work closely with subcontractors, project managers, and general contractors to ensure the successful execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Commercial Roofing and Decking Estimations:

Accurately estimate the cost and material requirements for commercial roofing and decking projects.

Analyze project plans, specifications, and site conditions to develop comprehensive bids.

Ensure estimates are competitive while maintaining profitability and adhering to company standards.
2. Request for Information (RFI) Management:

Create and manage RFIs to gather missing or unclear project information from general contractors, architects, or property managers.

Ensure timely and accurate responses to RFIs that impact project estimations and bidding.
3. Solicitation for Bid Opportunities – General Contractors:

Identify and build relationships with large general contractors to solicit bid opportunities for roofing and decking projects.

Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and contractor outreach events to enhance visibility and generate leads.
4. Solicitation for Bid Opportunities – Property Managers:

Develop and maintain relationships with large property management companies to generate new project leads.

Present clients commercial services to property managers and key decision-makers.
5. Subcontractor Qualification for Bidding:

Qualify and evaluate subcontractors for commercial roofing and decking projects.

Ensure that subcontractors meet project-specific qualifications, including safety standards, experience, and pricing competitiveness.

Maintain a database of qualified subcontractors for future bidding opportunities.
6. Bid Win/Loss Evaluation:

Track and evaluate the division’s bid win/loss ratio to assess performance and competitiveness.

Compare bidding results against key competitors to identify areas for improvement and adjust future bidding strategies.
7. Hiring and Development of Estimating Team:

Assist in recruiting and hiring additional commercial estimators for both roofing and general construction projects.

Provide mentorship and guidance to new estimators to improve their skills and ensure alignment with company objectives.
Qualifications:

Proven experience as an estimator in commercial roofing and construction, with a track record of successful project bids.

Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems, construction practices, and materials.

Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Ability to interpret project specifications, drawings, and contract documents.

Experience in subcontractor qualification and relationship management.
Reporting Structure:
The Senior Commercial Roofing Estimator will report to COO and collaborate with project managers, general contractors, and other key stakeholders to ensure project success.
