Introduction: The Emergency Services Shuttle Driver is responsible for the safe transport of guests to and from the Emergency Shelter Program. This role includes operating and maintaining shuttle vehicles to ensure efficient and secure guest transportation. In addition to driving duties, the Shuttle Driver will assist with shelter operations during non-driving hours. The position requires flexibility while adhering to a structured work schedule, with the individual reporting to the Driver Supervisor or Program Manager.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a clean, unrestricted driving record and be comfortable driving large vehicles (typically 24' in length) with wide turning radii. The candidate should be skilled in working with diverse groups and possess strong organizational and prioritization abilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for providing clear instructions and conveying important information.
Creating a positive, professional, and safe environment is key, as is maintaining strong working relationships. Candidates should be patient and understanding when assisting individuals in need of urgent case management or health support.
The ability to remain focused and drive safely in potentially distracting environments is essential. Attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet browsing is preferred. Reliability, responsibility, and respectful communication are vital. Knowledge of motor vehicle and engine maintenance is an asset. A valid Class C Driver's License and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. are required.
