We invite highly skilled, dedicated professionals to join our team of therapists, educators, nurses, and counselors. We have an opportunity for an Early Childhood Special Educator in our Early Supports for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) program.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an Early Childhood Special Educator for our IFSP team of trans-disciplinary professionals, responsible for providing early support (ESIT) services to families with a child under the age of 3, with an identified diagnosis or a delay in their development, in alignment with clinical and ESIT practice standards. A Primary Service Provider approach is used to provide support within teams and families. In partnership with a child’s caregiver, the Early Childhood Special Educator will evaluate children’s needs considering a child’s and family strengths and culture, in the areas of social-emotional, play, problem-solving, self-help skills, communication as well as sensory needs as they impact the child’s participation in daily or community routines. As a primary service provider of the ESIT team, the Early Childhood Special Educator is responsible for providing direct support and joint supports to their team and families with young children who have delays in the areas of play, basic communication, cognitive and social-emotional as well as other areas of general development. A strong emphasis is on collaborative partnership with their team as well as building caregiver capacity using coaching practices to understand their child’s unique strengths and support their child to successfully participate in daily routines and community opportunities. Services are typically provided in a child and family’s natural environment, such as home, daycares, parks, or other community settings in Snohomish County and north King County.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Special Education degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Washington State Teaching Certificate with Early Childhood Special Education endorsement.
  • Experience in early childhood special education is preferred.
  • Committed to family-centered, inclusive, interdisciplinary, and strengths-based ESIT best practices in natural environments.
  • Possess professional comfort or a willingness to support teaming and work with families who have children who are impacted by developmental needs in family routines.
  • Interest in building capacity in coaching practices and engaging within a primary service provider approach.
  • Provide services in homes, daycares, and community settings.
  • Ability to engage and problem solve with team members.
  • Work collaboratively with parents and community partners
  • Provides quality work; demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality work; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality. 
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change and use flexible thinking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams.
  • Capacity to learn how to use ChildStrive’s Electronic Health Records (AMD).
  • Current First-Aid and CPR certification and Blood Borne Pathogen training required.
  • Pass Background check.
  • Possess a valid WA State Driver’s License with automobile insurance.

Outreach Counseling serves families with preschoolers who are homeless and living in shelters or who are isolated and lack support. The Outreach program also partners with the Tulalip Tribes and provides consultation services to childcare providers serving families in transitional housing.

ECEAP (Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program) is a high-quality preschool and family development program for underserved families in partnership with Snohomish County and the State of Washington.
