Job Description

**About the Team:** As a Staff Software Engineer on the Ads Manager team, you will be at the forefront of building and scaling Uber's advertising products and its underlying platform. Your work will enable Uber to provide the best-in-class experience to advertisers, driving both customer satisfaction and revenue growth. You will collaborate across teams including product and data science to deliver world-class advertising solutions that support Uber's growth strategy. In this role, you'll tackle complex engineering challenges that come with operating at Uber's scale, working on systems that are highly available, reliable, and performance-optimized. This is a unique opportunity to have a significant impact on a critical part of Uber's growth strategy while shaping the future of digital advertising on our platform. **Minimum qualifications:** + PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field **AND** 2-years full-time Software Engineering work experience **OR** 5-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, **WHICH INCLUDES** 3-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: + Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go) + Note the 3-years total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The years of specialized experience are not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated. **Technical skills:** **Required:** + Distributed systems Preferred: + PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field AND 5-years full-time Software Engineering work experience OR 8-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 3-years total technical software engineering experience + Proven ability to lead large-scale projects from concept through to production, handling complex system designs and integration challenges. + Expertise in designing scalable & reliable systems in a microservices architecture. + Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver complex, user-facing product solutions. + Product and customer-centric approach. The frameworks and platforms we are building are going to be demonstrated by Uber engineers across many teams. **What You'll Do** + Lead the design, development, and deployment of new ad products, features, and platforms that enhance the advertiser and user experience. + Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions that align with Uber's ad strategy. + Dive into and directly impact our projects improving advertisers self-serve experience + Mentor and guide junior engineers on technical designs, coding best practices, architecture, and play a key role in upleveling them + Drive the long-term vision for ad products, identifying opportunities for new advertiser experience and consumer satisfaction. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
