Summary of Duties:
Under the direction of the Manager, Protocol, Advocacy and Events, the Events Officer (Events and Technical Production) works with internal and external clients to manage the planning, preparation, and delivery of assigned complex events. The incumbent will analyse and evaluate the technical support needs for events; manage the inventory, maintenance, life cycle replacement and storage of all equipment; manage the contracting and procurement process for technical equipment and resources; provide coordination for mission events beyond the technical systems role and supervise facilities support staff and others as needed.
The Events Officer (Events and Technical Production) is required to develop expertise on all technical systems and equipment in the Mission’s inventory for representational spaces. This includes, but is not limited to, audio visual equipment, lighting, sound, and computer systems. This position is responsible to analyse existing systems and provide a detailed evaluation on their efficiency and appropriateness for the Mission. They are responsible to research innovative technologies in related industries in order to make strategic recommendations for upgrades/replacements/repairs, including the management of purchases and rentals as needed. This position is the point of contact for liaising with sister units at the Embassy (such as physical resources and IT) to coordinate and collaborate on hospitality space needs.
Area of Selection:
This selection process is open to applicants legally residing in the Washington, DC metropolitan area at the time of appointment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
